The acronym stands for Away From Keyboard. This term was coined by players who play video games online.Â
They say that they don’t want to be bothered by other players who are playing their game but instead would rather focus on something else.
This term has spread across social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. People often use it to describe someone who is inactive or distracted.
A lot of people don't know what AFK means. In fact, I didn't either until recently. So let's break down what it means.
 What Actually AFK Is?
AFK stands for Away From Keyboard. This term was coined back in the early days of video games when players would leave their computers running while they went about doing something else.Â
When they returned, they'd find out that their game had been frozen due to them being away from the keyboard.
So what does this have to do with gaming? Well, if you're playing a multiplayer game, then you'll want to make sure that you're not AFKing.Â
If you're playing a single-player game, then you should probably just play it without worrying about whether or not you're going to get kicked.
But what if you're playing a game and you're not even using the keyboard at all? That's when you're AFK. You're not interacting with anything in-game.Â
You're just sitting there staring at the screen. And if you're AFKing, then you're wasting everyone's time.
 Why is AFK Bad?
There are many reasons why AFK is bad.Â
Here are some examples of things that could happen if you're AFKing:
 * Your team loses because you weren't paying attention to the game
 * Your teammates get mad at you for leaving the game unattended
 * Your opponents get upset that you were AFKing and left them alone
 * Other players get frustrated and quit the game
 * Your opponent gets upset that you were AFK and decided to go AFK yourself
 * Your opponent wins because he/she got bored waiting for you to return
 * You miss out on achievements and rewards
