Pakistan is a country located in South Asia, sharing borders with Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the northeast, India to the east, China to the southeast, and Nepal to the south.
Its territory covers approximately 583,000 square kilometers (228,000 sq mi), making it the fifth-largest country in the world.
Economy
The economy of Pakistan is a developing market economy based on agriculture and industry, although the services sector remains the largest contributor to GDP at around 60%.
Agriculture employs about 50% of its population, while industry accounts for 28%, and the service sector for 16%.
The Pakistani government's economic policies focus on increasing industrialization, expanding foreign trade, and promoting domestic consumption.
Capital
Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan and the seat of the Government of Pakistan. Islamabad is also the capital of the federal administrative divisions of Pakistan.
The city is divided into four tehsils – Rawalpindi, Chaklala, G-11/Iqbal Town, and I.A.S.F.C. Area – and is further subdivided into 25 Union Councils.
Language
Urdu is the national language of Pakistan. English is widely spoken and understood in urban areas. Other languages spoken in Pakistan include Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, Brahui, Hindko, Kashmiri, Saraiki, Gojri, Gilgit Baltistan, and Seraiki.
Religion
Islam is the predominant religion in Pakistan. According to the 1998 census, Islam was followed by 97.8% of the total population. About 80% of the population is Sunni Muslim, while Shia Muslims constitute 15% of the population.
A small minority follows Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Sikhism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Baha'i Faith.

According to the last census conducted in 2018, the total population of Pakistan is 207 million. The total fertility rate is 2.3 children born per woman. The sex ratio is 940 females for 1000 males. The literacy rate is 67.9%.
